With the current state of the economy, every industry is looking to reduce expenses. One area that is frequently overlooked when companies scrounge to save a buck is security. Companies think to save in areas like phones, faxes, and printers because they use and touch these objects on a daily basis. Security products are designed to safeguard an office or building without startling staff and tenants. Therefore, the "out of site, out of mind" theory comes to mind.
Significant money can be saved by reevaluating your maintenance and service contracts. Most companies get lulled into thinking that because a company installed the security system, that they are the only company qualified to maintain and service it, simply not true. When a system problem arises like broken equipment, cameras dropping out, access doors malfunctioning, etc, you call your vendor. When you call, do they answer? When they answer, how knowledgeable are they about your problem? How long does it take for them to have someone on site? How much are they charging you and is it worth the service you are receiving? All questions that should, but don’t always seem to be, answered positively. If this is the case, why not call company "B" and company "C"? Have them come to your site to evaluate your equipment and present a proposal for a new contract at no cost or obligation to you. It doesn’t hurt to see what else is out there and what it will cost.
In Newark New Jersey, a jewelry manufacturer was paying in excess of 1200 dollars a month for UL monitoring, system maintenance, and lease line services. By having another company come in and offer their opinion on the situation, they were able to change to a new intrusion alarm using radio backups to meet UL qualifications. This client was able to decrease their monthly bills to just over 200 dollars a month and achieve a higher level of protection with no capital investment or cancellation penalties.
In these times, cuts need to be made, why not be strategic about it?

S2 will be releasing the NetBox4 in 09. NetBox4 has such capabilities as a partitioned database, audit trail, and a new widget based interface that is simply stunning. The Widget interface allows users to individually design their own monitoring displays to seamlessly view their CCTV and security management systems simultaneously. Users can compile a set of security specific widgets to configure a display that integrates access control, CCTV, and other integrated monitoring data.
When the system is setup and programmed, a default widget screen can be composed for technicians so they can see the same layout with information pertinent to their needs. Companies with multiple locations will benefit from this as the display will be the same for each site. Techs will see the same interface at any of the company’s multiples locations when they come in for a service call.
This system also utilizes an active directory. When the user logs into windows, they will also be simultaneously logging into S2. this is helpful because if the user leaves the company, they loose their S2 login when their network login is disabled by the administrator. In an industry filled with boring, hard to navigate interfaces, S2 has the answer with this sleek widget interface.
